Mark Halse
South Coast Bioregion

Mark Halse is a professional fishing guide along the South Coast of WA. He therefore has an intimate knowledge of the region's waters and maintains close contact with the fishers who use them. Mark keeps constantly aware of issues and strategies that face recreational anglers.

He is currently the Community Representative on the Walpole Nornalup Marine Park Focus Group, and was recently elected to represent this focus group to discuss marine planning with the Minister for the Environment. Mark is a persistent campaigner for the improved management of fisheries in the estuaries and rivers of the South Coast.

In addition to Mark's extensive knowledge of the South Coast, he talks with many fishers in other regions during regular travels for trade and fishing events such as the Mandurah Boat Show.

Mark's passion for fishing saw him represent WA in the 2005 Australian Bream Fishing Tournament Grand Final. Mark also writes for Western Angler magazine and has appeared on numerous TV and DVD fishing shows.

Mark was elected to the Recfishwest Board at the Annual General Meeting in October 2009 as the South Coast Bioregional Board member for a 2 year term.
