Recfishwest's first Executive Director is Frank Prokop. The organisation which represents the state's 643,000 recreational fishers, searched the nation to find a person of high calibre to lead the fight to ensure the state's vital fish resources remain at viable levels for the children of the future.

Frank brings to the organisation a high level of expertise having graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Maquarie University with majors in Zoology and ecology and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Western Australia in 1996. Before moving to Perth in late 1992, Frank was involved in implementing numerous policy initiatives covering areas of commercial and recreational fisheries and environmental and endangered species protection.

Since coming to Western Australia he has been involved with reviews on recreational netting, bag and size limits, recreational rock lobster regulations, Ningaloo fishing, Shark Bay World Heritage area, marron and trout stocking.

Frank was also instrumental in the development of the National Recreational Fishing policy. His high level of expertise will be needed in formulating policy for Recfishwest on licensing, pollution of the Swan River and areas like Jervoise Bay, catch limits, netting, habitat protection and various other areas that directly affect the sustainability of the state's fish resource. Frank has developed an exceptional "media presence", and is the new public face of Recfishwest on all issues relating to recreational fishing.

Frank is also a fisher in his own right, prefering the alluring ways of stream and river fishes, but occassionally breaks out for a bit of real fishing in the ocean. By the way, he's also a down to earth bloke not only calling a spade a spade, but also trying in vain to get his ten pin bowling handicap down.
