Firsts in dam's fish transfer systems

Paradise Dam's state-of-the-art fish transfer system incorporates a dedicated fishlift for upstream and a dedicated fishlock for downstream movement of fish. It is the first example of fish passage of a high dam in Australia and the first use of this type of fish transfer technology in Australia. The fishway's aim to cater for the whole fish community down to very small and juvenile fish should enable sufficient movement and migration of fish to maintain the diversity and abundance of fish upstream and downstream of the dam.
