Camberwarra Primary School Fishing Clinic 13 November 2006.

Recfishwest held a fishing clinic at East Perth for Year 4 and Year 5 boys from Camberwarra Primary School.

"BWT" is a school program they are participating in called "Boys Working Together". Here are the reports about the clinic prepared by the boys.

Fishing Trip, by Keegan Titterton. On Monday the 13th of November the BWT team went to the Swan River for a fishing trip. Once there the boys were introduced to Terry and Michelle from Recfishwest. All the boys got a fishing rod and they went to the Jetty. After about 2 minutes Robert caught the first fish but it was only a blowy.

Throughout the whole day the boys only caught blowies. Jason caught 4 puffers to get the prize for the most fish caught. Some parents came to help the boys which was very helpful. The day started to finish and all the boys were puffed.

At the end the prizes were handed out and everyone got a special pack to take home. Everyone had a great day and lots of fun!

Fishing, by Peter Stojanovic, year 5. On the 13th of November the year 5 and 4 boys went fishing at the Swan River at Brown Street Jetty East Perth. When we got to the swan river we learnt the safety first and they told us to look back when you cast.

Then we went fishing. Robert was the first person to catch a fish. And when Ivan caught his fish he was screaming so loud. Then I got my fish. I was happy!

When we left we all got small tackle box. We went to have fun!

"BWT", by Robert Baird. On Monday the 13th November the boys in our class went fishing on the Swan River. We got there by bus. It took almost half an hour. When we got there we met our instructors they told us a few safety rules.

After that we got our fishing rods and cast into the river. After a while I caught my first blowfish for the day. I was really proud of myself and I was the first person to catch a fish. Then I casted again and I got another bite and so did Keegan. He pulled his fish up before me, we got photo together.

After about twenty minutes I got another bite I thought I was a pretty good fisherman but it was another blowfish.

Then it was time to eat recess and go back to school but before we went back every one received a bag of stuff. I had lots of fun on this trip.

Fishing, by Jhai Anderson. On the 13-11-06 all the year 4 and 5 boys went to Brown Street Jetty Swan River East Perth. Everybody caught a fish but Matthew.

We all had a bad day because we caught blowies. I caught 3 in a half blowies. I used the half of the blowie for bait and I got a HUGE BITE but it got away and I nearly fell of the jetty.

I learnt how to put bait on at the start, at the end of fishing we got prizes. We got a small tackle box, hooks, lures, bait, swivels and sinkers. There were 4 magazines about fishing, a DVD, a big sticker for the size of the fish and 2 more stickers.

Fishing Excursion, by Mohamed Sultan. On Monday the 13th November 2006, all the year five and four boys went fishing at Brown street jetty on the Swan River.

First we got on the bus and on our way to the Swan River we saw Subiaco Oval. We arrived there at 9:30 and we met our instructors Michelle and Terry. We talked about fishing safely and fishing for the future. (Catch and release)

For twenty minutes Michelle and Terry told us about what were going to catch and some of the rules like don't poke anybody and always hold your rod up and always look behind when you cast. Then we started to fish.

Robert caught the first fish. Soon everybody started to catch fish. Everybody's bait always fell off. I caught two Blowfish. After we finished we had recess, then we got on the bus and went back to school.

And everybody got a tackle box I had a great fun fishing. It's a good sport!

When we got there we talked about fishing, what we were aiming for and other things. After that we got a rod and walked to the jetty, we put our bait on and started fishing. One hour later I caught my first fish it was a blowy.

After that we packed up and walked up to the park and got our prizes. They were a dvd, 2 stickers, magazines and a poster. When we got our prizes we got back on the bus and went back to school for the rest of the day.
