Parent and child Fishing Clinic, Banks Reserve, Swan River, October 2008
Recfishwest conducted a series of FishSmart SunSmart grandparent and child or parent and child fishing clinics during the school holidays in September and October 2008.
The Town of Vincent asked Recfishwest to run a clinic at the Banks Reserve in East Perth on Monday 6 October. Some of the people cancelled at the last minute so there was only a small group.
Some small black bream were caught and the blowfish stayed away, the sun shone and the wind was light, so it was a very enjoyable fishing time. All the fish were released and swam off strongly, to grow a bit larger.
It must have been enjoyable, because when it came time to pack up, it was hard to convince most of the people to wind in their lines and that it was time to go to the debrief and get the handouts and goodies.
This email from one of the children summed it up for him:-
