Fishing Clinic held in Kununurra 26 August 2006
Recfishwest, in partnership with Healthway, the Australian Government and the State Government is taking the "SunSmart", "Addicted to fishing, not drugs" and "Fish Today for Tomorrow" messages to regional Western Australia as part of a north west fishing clinic tour.
One of the first clinics held was in the Kimberley town of Kununurra. Recfishwest provided fishing equipment, bait, prizes and sunscreen at the clinic and praises the enormous efforts of local people, especially Leanne O'shea for organising the event. The clinic was a huge success with some 125 children participating. The main species caught was "silver cobbler", a "sooty grunter" and "mouth almighty" were also landed. It didn't matter to the children the type of fish caught, for a few it was their first catch and they were extatic.
Following are a few photos taken during
the clinic.
