Fishing Clinic held in Kununurra 4 October 2008

Recfishwest, in partnership with Healthway and the Cancer Council WA took the FishSmart SunSmart message to the Kimberley town of Kununurra earlier this month for the '2008 East Kimberley Marine Kimberley Kids Fishing Workshop'.

Local, Dick Pasfield with help from Cathy MacLaughlin did a fantastic job in making arrangements for the event.  Members of the West Kimberley RFAC provided valuable assistance on the day, and with support from local businesses West Kimberley Marine and Tripple J Tours the clinic was a resounding success.

Recfishwest provided fishing equipment, bait, prizes and sunscreen at the clinic. The main species caught was "silver cobbler", however it didn't matter to the children the type of fish caught. For a few it was their first catch and they were ecstatic. Other activities that the children and family members participated in included, casting to fish targets and going on a short boat cruise.
