Recfishwest Policy
Competency Based Boat Training
Recfishwest in principle supports the Minister
for Planning and Infrastructure decision announced 26 April 2004
to introduce a compulsory system of boat operator training, but
Recfishwest is opposed to any form of licensing, instead preferring
a certification system for proof of competency.
Further that, any introduction of Competency
Based Boat Training must give due regard to the need for exemptions
for operators to undertake compulsory training who are able to demonstrate
an agreed level of prior learning and that any such demonstration
requirements must be simple and easy to administer such as, for
example, provision of a statutory declaration of relevant experience,
perhaps in contribution with a computer administered questionnaire.
